What’s In Your Medicine Cabinet? Does It Benefit Your Skin Care Routine?

What do you do, every day, to take care of your skin?Do you have a skin-care routine, both morning and evening, that you swear by?It’s true: taking care of your skin takes a bit of work and dedication – but every bit of the work and dedication is worth it!
Now is the time to get in the habit of daily skin care. It’s never too late. And with the new year just around the corner, it’s a perfect time to “resolve” to take better care of your skin.
What do you need to care for your skin? There are many choices on the market, some are harsh; some offer chemical-free, gentle skin care. The goal of any skin care product…and a daily skin care routine…is to encourage clean, blemish-free, healthy skin.
It’s really very simple. Here’s what you need to get the lovely skin you want:
You need a cleanser designed for your FACE. The soap that cleans your body parts is too harsh for your face. Mild-formula facial cleansers are designed to clean your skin and help preserve it’s skin’s natural oils. This is important if you have a tendency to breakouts.
You need to exfoliate your facial skin with a gentle facial scrub twice a week. This is the best way to open your pores, especially around your nose, your forehead and chin. Choose a scrub that does not contain tiny, plastic micro-beads, which find their way into lakes, streams and eventually the ocean. Look for a natural formula…and never use around your eyes.
You need to use a moisturizer to keep your skin soft, to retain moisture and prevent wrinkles. Arid climates like we have in Utah, are very hard on your skin. Tip: Your body butter is not designed for your face. Choose a facial moisturizer and use it morning and night after your face is clean. Look for one with a sunscreen factor of at least 30. This serves double-duty, as using sunscreen is an important skin-saver.
