Belotero

What is Belotero?
Surgery is not the only option available when it comes to treating fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers such as Belotero have become increasingly popular among people who wish to regain their youthful appearance without surgery. Belotero contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring substance in our body that acts as a protective lubricating gel, binding with water to plump the skin. It also offers long-lasting collagen replacement.

What are the benefits of Belotero?
At Ageless Medical Spa, we provide Belotero to our patients mainly to address fine lines on the face. Although the filler has also been approved to treat smile lines, it is usually used to treat crow’s feet, lip lines, and other fine lines etched on different parts of the face. A type of Belotero known as Belotero Balance uses its hyaluronic acid component to intersperse with the skin’s collagen and treat finer lines, especially in sensitive areas of the face such as around the lips and under the eyes. Another advantage of Belotero is that it does not darken the skin when injected.

What can Belotero treat?
Belotero can be used to treat various skin imperfections, but it works best with fine lines, specifically periorbital lines or crow’s feet, perioral lines or smoker’s lines, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines. Aside from the correction of wrinkled skin, it can also be administered to soften irregular contours on the nose, rebuild fullness in the cheeks, enhance the appearance of the lips, and improve the appearance of the skin on the back of the hands and decolletage.

How long do the effects of Belotero last?
As with any other dermal filler, the duration of the results of a Belotero treatment depends upon the extent and condition of the area being treated. However, most of our patients in Salt Lake City report visible improvements lasting up to nine months. To maintain results, touch-up treatments are recommended after six to nine months.

Will there be pain during my Belotero injections?
The Belotero gel is designed to be delivered through very thin needles, minimizing any pain that may occur during injections. On more sensitive areas of your face, a topical numbing agent may be applied before the Belotero injections begin.

What side effects can I expect from Belotero?
It’s not unusual to have some swelling, redness, and discomfort at the injection sites. This passes within a few days. In rare cases, a temporary bruising may also be noticed on the injection areas.
