What is Radiesse?
As we age, certain substances in our skin, such as collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin, begin to disappear or their production decreases. Our skin needs these proteins to foster volume and suppleness, and to support our tissues. Without them, wrinkles begin to form and the skin loses its tautness. Fortunately, dermal fillers such as Radiesse are available as cosmetic treatments to counteract such conditions. Radiesse is an FDA-approved injectable that is used to correct moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles, and restore the lost fat and volume in the skin.

What is Radiesse made of?
Radiesse is made up of tiny calcium-based microspheres interspersed in a water-based gel. Its calcium microspheres are similar to the minerals naturally found in the body, so there is no need for allergy testing before the procedure. Over time, the body naturally absorbs the filler and the microspheres. What remains is the natural collagen produced during treatment.

What does Radiesse treat?

Many Ageless Medical Spa patients receive Radiesse injections to correct smile lines, marionette lines, and oral commissure (the lines found at the corners of the mouth). Radiesse is also effective for pre-jowls and chin wrinkles.

What can I expect during my Radiesse appointment?
Radiesse can be a “lunch hour” procedure, since the treatment only takes 15 to 30 minutes. There is little to no discomfort felt during treatment since the filler is mixed with an anesthetic called lidocaine to keep the procedure as pain-free as possible.

You may need a number of treatments to achieve your desired results. We will evaluate your individual needs and identify how many treatments you need for optimal results.

How long will the results from Radiesse last?
With Radiesse, results are immediate and will last up to a year, in most cases.

What side effects can I expect from my Radiesse treatment?
Patients may experience swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness, and mild irritation at the injection sites. These side effects usually resolve on their own in a few days. If such symptoms persist, it is important to give us a call right away.
