What is the 1540 non-ablative fractional laser?
As we age, our skin tends to lose its youthful glow. To rejuvenate the skin, patients in Salt Lake City rely on the 1540 fractional laser system. This treatment is a non-ablative method of skin resurfacing and treats a wide range of skin conditions. Many of our patients at Ageless Medical Spa prefer this treatment because of its minimal downtime and the positive results it delivers.
What can be treated with the 1540 non-ablative fractional laser?
The Starlux fractional laser is used to treat many common skin disorders. It reduces the appearance of sun spots, acne scars, and other visible signs of aging on the skin. The treatment can also be used to diminish stretch marks, improve the appearance of pigmented spots, and reduce the intensity of visible melasma on the skin. After treatment, the skin is smoother, firmer, and younger-looking.
How does fractional resurfacing work?peeli
During treatment, the Starlux 1540 directs hundreds of precise microbeams to form narrow columns of coagulated tissues both in the dermis and epidermis. As new skin resurfaces, dead skin cells and the coagulated collagen are naturally expelled. This triggers the natural healing process, forming new healthy tissue and collagen. Because of its non-ablative approach, the treatment penetrates into the dermis without affecting the integrity of the topmost layers of the skin. And since the top layer of the skin is not affected, downtime is non-existant and swelling and redness are minimal.
How can I prepare for my fractional laser appointment?
Before your 1540 treatment, you will be provided with instructions to prepare you and to help maximize your results. You’ll need to avoid excessive sun exposure, and discontinue use of certain skin products like Retin A, acne products, and high-strength glycolic peels for about a week before the day of your treatment.
What can I expect during my Starlux 1540 appointment?
There is little or no pain with the 1540 procedure, but some patients request a topical anesthetic 30 minutes before the procedure. The entire process can be completed in 30 minutes.
The Starlux 1540 fractional laser system is only able to treat about 20%-25% of the affected skin every session, which means that multiple sessions will be required to achieve desired results. Most of our patients require three to six sessions to obtain optimal results.
You will notice results after your first treatment. Those results will continue to progress for several months following your final treatment as your collagen continues to remodel and the condition of your skin improves.
What are the common side effects of a fractional laser treatment?
The most common side effects are mild redness, bruising, and dryness on the treated sites. Your skin will have a pinkish (like sun-exposed skin) tone for five to seven days. As the skin builds new tissue, there will also be some peeling. Most patients are able to return to their routine activities the same day.
